This design was intended as an entry into another Threadless.com competition, this time the theme was Halloween. Again, the intention of this design in its genesis was to minimise the use of colour in order to streamline the process for screen printing. In my mind I had aways visualised it as glow in the dark, and I think that would have really made an impactful design. As it stands I didn't win, but was proud of the design I created nonetheless. All of this was done using white brush tool whilst adjusting the opacity to create depth in the scene and allowing the creation of some spooky fog. The only other tool used was a grass brush to make it appear as though the lightning is lighting up the foreground, which was then used on layers further back but using the the eraser to create a dramatic separation between shadow and light.

This design is one of my favourites because of the level of detail I achieved using only one colour. Again, the design is derived from the same style as Beistle - classic Americana horror, and it is a fun and unfamiliar style to replicate for me. I relish the challenge to mix it up and simulate styles I ordinarily wouldn't work in.
