In 2015 I was hired to update and modernise the carrier bag design for Tigerlily, Oxford - An alternative/Rock shop that has been an institution among students and the youth of Oxford since 1991.  The owner of Tigerlily was very adamant about the colours of the bag remaining the same, and liked the way that the flame decals on the side of the old bag also resembled tiger stripes, and a crowd at a rock concert when turned on its side.  Further to this, he also wanted all of Tigerlily's social media contacts details on the bag.

Taking these specifications, I developed the new design which is in use now.  In order to modernise the design, I dropped the 90's style flames in place of a crowd at a concert, mirroring that with an accurate representation of the Oxford skyline in order to convey how Tigerlily is as a part of Oxford as its famous university landmarks.  Both of these elements when viewed at a distance also resemble tiger stripes as well as an equaliser on a stereo.  After this I updated the font to give it a cooler and more stylised look and applied all other necessary information.

I actually worked closely with the print company in order to create a design that could be printed by them using their specifications and limitations, including identifying the Pantone colour on the original bag design and altering my first design of the central slogan "WE PIERCE THE WORLD", removing the Pantone red, as this part could not be printed in red.  This project was also the first flirtation I had with Adobe Illustrator and vector graphics, as the print company required the design file to be in .SVG format.

Having been a customer of Tigerlily's for many years it was a wonderful experience coming full circle and designing something that is so iconic for their brand.
